EU: Ethnic cleansing in Myanmar demands action
The EU has historically led the international response on human rights in Myanmar. Silence now, as a scorched-earth campaign rages, would be deafening – and will not go unnoticed worldwide.

There is a climate of impunity in CAR, where members of armed groups and militias alleged to have committed appalling human rights abuses and crimes under international law, move freely throughout the country and continue to fuel violence
08/01/2015 – Palestine’s accession to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is a welcome move that will help deter war crimes and end impunity in the region, and should be supported by European countries said Amnesty International, Broederlijk Delen, Christian Aid, the Coalition for the ICC, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), and Pax Christi Flanders today.

The Central African Republic is gripped by a human rights and humanitarian crisis of historic proportions. By failing to respond more robustly and urgently, the international community has shown a callous disregard for the country’s embattled civilians, abandoning them in their moment of need

12/02/2014 – “Ethnic cleansing” of Muslims has been carried out in the western part of the Central African Republic, the most populous part of the country, since early January 2014. 1 Entire Muslim communities have been forced to flee, and hundreds of Muslim civilians who have not managed to escape have been killed by the loosely organised militias known as anti-balaka.

19/12/2013 – An Amnesty International delegation has just returned from a two-week mission to Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR) and documented serious violations of international humanitarian law and gross violations of human rights following the 5 December attack in Bangui and its aftermath, including war crimes and crimes against humanity. The commission of these crimes should be of great concern to the international community as a whole. All states have an obligation to investigate and, where enough admissible evidence is gathered, prosecute war crimes and crimes against humanity.
