03/11/2011 – Amnesty International has expressed concern at the cancellation of the Belgrade Pride that was scheduled for 2 October 2011, and have urged that measures be taken to ensure that the Belgrade Pride (including a march and associated events) can take place in 2012.

14/10/2011 – On 12 October, Amnesty International published the report No Evidence of a Crime: Paying the Price for police impunity in Ukraine. Many people in Ukraine still face arbitrary detention, torture and other ill-treatment, and other human rights violations at the hands of the police.

29/09/2011 – Lithuania launched a criminal investigation in January 2010 into the two secret CIA detention sites (already acknowledged by a parliamentary enquiry) but it was abruptly terminated only after a year in January 2011 on highly dubious grounds. No one has ever been held accountable.

26/09/2011 – Over the past few weeks, the EU and member states have been involved in intense negotiations regarding possible initiatives at the United Nations on Palestinian statehood. The PA may also request a resolution from the UN General Assembly. The EU must use its influence to ensure that any such resolution, initiative or agreement fully respects the human rights of Palestinians and Israelis, including access to justice, truth and reparations.

20/09/2011 – It is essential for EU countries to play a more active part in joining multinational efforts and sharing responsibility for refugees affected by the crisis in Libya.

16/09/2011 – According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the guardian of international humanitarian law, the closure of Gaza “constitutes a collective punishment imposed in clear violation of Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law”. In contrast, the Palmer report only focuses on the naval blockade of Gaza.
