Amnesty International and a group of fourteen leading European NGOs wrote to EU Foreign Ministers urging them to address serious inconsistencies in their approach to the Middle East Peace Process. They denounced the fact that the EU has failed to unambiguously support an independent inquiry into the Gaza conflict, in contrast with its active support for such investigations into other recent conflicts, for instance Sri Lanka and Georgia.
A substantial discussion on human rights issues should take place at next Monday’s meeting between the EU and the Foreign Ministers of the five Central Asian countries, said Amnesty International.
