60th Anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Time to Deliver

01/12/2008 – Following on from our letter of 11 June 2008, Amnesty International would like to urge the EU once again to ensure that concrete human rights provisions and measurable benchmarks are included in the revision to the Action Plan, currently being discussed.

05/11/2008 – In view of the EU-Yemen Troika meeting that will take place on 29 October, Amnesty International would like to draw your attention to the human rights situation in Yemen, in particular regarding discrimination against women and against members of the Baha’i community, and use of death penalty. We urge you to raise these concerns during the meeting with your Yemeni counterparts.

04/11/2008 – More than 70,000 people, mainly civilians, have been killed as a result of the conflict and between 3 and 4 million have been forcibly displaced from their homes. Between 15,000 and 30,000 people have also been the victims of enforced disappearances since the start of the conflict and more than 20,000 people have been kidnapped or taken hostage in the past decade.
