17/03/2011 – On International Women’s Day 2011, Amnesty International expressed its profound concerns at last minute efforts by some Council of Europe member states to unravel key provisions in a new European treaty on violence against women.

15/03/2011 – Amnesty International has written to the Hungarian Presidency to draw their attention to our latest report published on 16 March 2011 entitled  Parallel lives: Roma denied rights to housing and water in Slovenia. The report reveals that many Romani families in that country are living in poorly built, overcrowded shacks in isolated and segregated rural settlements, far from health-care services, schools, employment and shops. They also live in fear of forced evictions and are rarely consulted or told about the choices available to them.

15/03/2011 – Amnesty International analyses the routine abuse of Slovenia’s Romany people who are deprived of adequate housing, water and sanitation. The human rights organisation reveals the Slovenian government’s failure to uphold its EU obligations to treat its Roma population without discrimination.
