06/10/2015 – Amnesty International has written to the Luxembourgish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, chairing the JHA meeting on Thursday 8 October which will follow up on several measures to respond to the current refugee crisis. We are calling EU leaders to focus on safe and legal routes and dignified treatment of migrants and refugees. The letter also includes specific concerns on the Balkans and recommendations to EU institutions and member states to take action to stop Hungary from violating the human rights of refugees and asylum seekers and breaching EU law.
