Amnesty International’s letter in view of the Special European Council meeting taking place on 9 and 10 February 2023, where EU leaders will discuss, amongst other issues, ways in which the EU can intensify its joint actions in the field of migration policy.
Amnesty International would like to draw the EU leaders attention to some key concerns regarding the current situation at the external borders of the EU and in the Central Mediterranean and highlight our recommendations to EU institutions and Member States to address the challenges in an effective, sustainable, and human rights compliant manner.
