People’s Declaration on Big Tech

On the 14th July, the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE Committee) is scheduled to vote on DSA compromise amendments. While the most important parliamentary negotiations will take place in the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO Committee), which is scheduled to vote on the 8th November, the LIBE vote will set limits on what can be debated/discussed in the autumn.

As a first joint action on behalf of organizations who attended the ‘People v Big Tech’ campaign workshop on the 24th and 25th June, we propose to launch a “People’s Declaration” to demonstrate civil society support for radical action on Big Tech and to make a high-level case for our shared demands. Our intention is that this declaration will be read out by an allied MEP in the LIBE committee ahead of the vote.
