Letter to Van Rompuy on his visit to China
11/05/2011 – Ahead of European Council President Van Rompuy’s visit to China, Amnesty International urges him to raise human rights concerns at the highest level of leadership. While China is emerging as a global power, the human rights situation in the country is deteriorating. We are deeply concerned about the widening crackdown on dissent and the impact on freedom of expression within Chinese society, and the continuing persecution of religious and ethnic minority groups.
